Holy leg
A very unusual religious artifact, dating from early to mid-19th Century and either Spanish or Italian in origin. This form still has all its origin sections, dowl jointed fittings and original paint. Wonderfully detailed and an exceptional carving just as a sculptural form we believe. From an interior point of view, it could be hung from a ceiling, used as a piece of wall art coming out of a wall, or can stand in the corner of a room. Macabre in visual appeal and just a very unusual important 19th Century item. The whole figure would have been quite spectacular as you can image.
