Early 20th century giant shoe with metal double sided repair trade sign
For sale in this LOT is a highly unusual, rare and decorative English folk art shoe makers trade sign. The shoe is hand made from scratch and consists of leather and wooden sole with flat head nails. The trade sign is double sided, hand painted on a metal sheet and framed. This is a one off item as it was likely made specifically for a particular shoe repair shop in the United Kingdom. The item is very well made and solid if form. Dating to the early part of the 20th century this item shows obvious age, wear and tear (detailed in the condition section below). one thing is for sure, you wont find another example like it.
Condition: This is an item dated early 20th Century so expect wear and tear in the nature of loss of color, scuff, light repair and tears across the boot. the boot has light scuffs to the front section, weathered rear section to the flap (photographed) and a split under the rear section of the flap, which has been stitched (photographed), the wooden sole is aged and shows a great patina, The boot is structurally secure and firm in form. The metal advertising sign is hand painted and become discolored over the years as you can imagine, it also has some scratches across it however this doesn’t detract from the graphic of sign itself. It’s strongly suggested to review all the photos provided as part of this advert. You won’t find another one that’s for sure in such good condition and decorative look.
