French Leather Workman’s Hat circa 1840
For sale in this lot is a rare and highly decorative french leather workman’s hat dated mid-19th Century. This item would have originally been worn by a french workman, the size of the has is made bespoke to fit a smaller size head. It’s completely handmade from scratch and very unique in style and form. The leather shows a wonderful decorative quality and very nostalgic.
Size: H 6.5” x W 6” x D 10”
Condition: This item is over 150 years old and yet still is in overall good condition. The leather is firm in form and holds its original shape as intended. The stitching is strong and in place. The colour as shown in the photos has a wonderful patina and look. The crown has over time loosened due to the stitching coming apart, this can easily be repaired however we have left this item as authentic as possible.
