Rare Historical Edwardian French Wig Stand Curio Decorative Artistic Macabre
For sale is a very cool and original super rare Edwardian French women’s wig stand. This is a very rare and unusual item that it not only highly decorative, collectable, Macabre and very curio. The item is covered in flux leather are would have been covered many times over the years. This item would have either been wooden based or covered in a leather or some form. This items shape is typical of the type of wigs that were worn by Edwardian well to do women, the raised and extended back part of this wig stand differs from normal antique wig stands as this is how the wig of the time where worn, a large heavy extended rear wig, which in fashion were matched with large extended dress bottoms. A highly decorative and rare fashion artefact, a decorative macabre and curio item. We have never seen an item like this and I’m sure we never will as they are very rare and unique.
The overall structural condition of this item is perfect with no cracks or breaks to the item. Some wear and fading on the flux leather is present and visible in the close up photos provided. Other than this the item is in great condition structurally and stands firm with great decorative presence.
Quite simply this is a one off fashion artefact, not only decorative but historical all in one item. We never seen one before but only in museums, so to have one in such good condition is a true rarity and privilege.
