Antique Fairground Papier Mache Amusement Jockey Statue a Rare and very collectable item.
For Sale in this LOT is a rare and very and collectable, original 1930s French fairground amusement Papier Mache racing jockey. This item would have originally have placed in a row alongside another 5 similar items at the end of a fairground amusement folk-art horse racing game. The item would have advertised and promoted the game as a decorative, bespoke handmade fairground artefact. The item is very rare due to the fact only 6 of these items were made in a local Paris (France) fairground. The item is completely hand made from papier Mache and each item was hand painted and therefore very slightly different in appearance.
The item comes free standing on item original podium block, we have knowledge that the other 5 items as part of this set were removed from their plinths so this one is more unique due to this fact.
In conclusion this is an original and rare french antique handmade fairground artefact in overall great condition. A true collector’s item and you won’t find another one on eBay, whoever purchases this item will not be disappointed.
Dimensions: H 39” x W 14” x D12”
The item is completely solid and structurally sound, the paint is faded and slightly worn due to age and use. However the paint effect we feel gives the item much character and a wonderful overall patina. This is a wonderful decorative item and great original piece of fairground history.
